Driven by a vision to empower the African diaspora, Dr. DeForest B. Soaries, Jr. founded Dfree Global Foundation, which birthed DFREE® Africa, to replace the cycle of poverty with a mindset of wealth and self-sufficiency. This mission is deeply rooted in Dr. Soaries’ long-standing connection to the continent, beginning with his first visit to South Africa in 1990. He has since spent decades forging continental partnerships that champion economic, social, and spiritual growth, dedicating his leadership to building strategic connections across the continent, especially in Ghana, Liberia, Uganda, Botswana, South Africa and several other countries. His work focuses on integrating economic development with educational, spiritual and social progress to create sustainable, higher standards of living for all.

Bugwere Clean Water Project
In August 2025, the DFREE® East Africa maiden tour group visited the Bugwere Kingdom of Eastern Uganda, and were warmly welcomed by His Highness King Geoffrey Wayabire, the royal household and members of the Budaka community. The group stopped to assess sources of drinking water in nearby villages that relied on open ponds that were a hub of constant activity and persistent illness: Livestock waded through the same water that families used for drinking. Women spent hours scrubbing laundry on the muddy banks. Children played in and drank from the same pool. Waterborne illnesses like cholera were commonplace.
High-Speed Satellite Internet for Kyebi
The introduction of high-speed internet in the Kyebi township, powered by Starlink, marks a significant milestone in bridging the digital divide, especially for the youth and young adults. By introducing low-latency, satellite-based connectivity to the area, this initiative transforms a local neighborhood into a connected hub, removing geographical barriers that previously limited access to information. DFREE Foundation has effectively leapfrogged older technologies to ensure the youth of Kyebi are no longer competing with a handicap; they have the same data-transfer capabilities as a student in a major global tech hub. This level playing field ensures that talent, not location, becomes the only limit to what they can achieve.
